Bernadette鈥檚 back: to perform with Erie Phil on 糖心Vlog破解版 stage
The 糖心Vlog破解版 Institute for Arts & Culture鈥檚 2022-2023 season commences in grand fashion on Saturday, Sept. 17, when Tony Award-winning Broadway superstar Bernadette Peters returns to 糖心Vlog破解版 University, joining the Erie Philharmonic for a special one-night-only concert in the Mary D鈥橝ngelo Performing Arts Center.
Throughout her illustrious career, Bernadette Peters has dazzled audiences and critics with her performances on stage, film, and television; in concert; and on recordings. She has garnered numerous accolades, including three Tony Awards and a Golden Globe, three Emmy and four Grammy Award nominations, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
One of Broadway鈥檚 most critically acclaimed performers, Peters recently starred as Dolly Gallagher Levi in the hit musical 鈥淗ello, Dolly!鈥 Prior to that, she starred in the City Center Encores! production 鈥淎 Bed and a Chair: A New York Love Affair,鈥 featuring music by Stephen Sondheim and orchestrations by Wynton Marsalis, and on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim鈥檚 鈥淎 Little Night Music鈥 and 鈥淔ollies.鈥
Peters garnered both the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for her performance in the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical 鈥淪ong and Dance鈥 and won a Tony Award for her performance in 鈥淎nnie Get Your Gun.鈥 She received Tony nominations for her outstanding performances in Sam Mendes鈥 critically acclaimed revival of 鈥淕ypsy鈥; Neil Simon鈥檚 鈥淭he Goodbye Girl鈥; Stephen Sondheim鈥檚 Pulitzer Prize-winning musical 鈥淪unday in the Park with George鈥; Jerry Herman and Gower Champion鈥檚 ode to the movies, 鈥淢ack & Mabel鈥; and the Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green musical, 鈥淥n the Town.鈥 In addition to these honors, Peters earned a Drama Desk nomination for her unforgettable portrayal of The Witch in Stephen Sondheim鈥檚 鈥淚nto the Woods.鈥
She boasts an impressive list of television credits, including guest-starring on the NBC series 鈥淶oey鈥檚 Extraordinary Playlist,鈥 for which she earned an Emmy nomination. The popular series was made into a TV movie musical titled 鈥淶oey鈥檚 Extraordinary Christmas鈥 for The Roku Channel. Other recent TV appearances include The CW鈥檚 鈥淜aty Keene,鈥 CBS All Access鈥 鈥淭he Good Fight,鈥 Amazon Prime鈥檚 Golden Globe-winning series 鈥淢ozart in the Jungle,鈥 NBC鈥檚 鈥淪mash,鈥 ABC鈥檚 鈥淕rey鈥檚 Anatomy,鈥 and 鈥淯gly Betty.鈥 She recently completed production on the new Apple TV series 鈥淗igh Desert,鈥 scheduled to be released in early 2023.
In addition to starring in the Lifetime TV movie 鈥淟iving Proof,鈥 Peters has lit up the silver screen in over 30 films throughout her distinguished career. Peters has recorded six solo albums, including the Grammy-nominated 鈥淚鈥檒l Be Your Baby Tonight,鈥 鈥淪ondheim, Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall,鈥 and 鈥淏ernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein,鈥 in addition to numerous original Broadway cast recordings.
Peters devotes her time and talents to numerous events that benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Her 鈥減et project鈥 Broadway Barks, co-founded with Mary Tyler Moore, is an annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event that benefits shelter animals in the New York City area. She is a New York Times best-selling author who has penned three children鈥檚 books: 鈥淏roadway Barks,鈥 鈥淪tella is a Star,鈥 and 鈥淪tella and Charlie: Friends Forever.鈥 All proceeds from the sale of these books benefit Broadway Barks. Peters resides in New York and Los Angeles with her rescue dogs, Charlie and Rosalia.
